Introduction
Protein interaction networks are used to characterize protein-protein interactions. Proteins have the ability to influence each other through means such as binding and post-translational modification [1]. These interactions can have a large implication for disease and regulate upstream or downstream of pathogenic pathways. To examine these interactions, STRING is a powerful database to visualize protein-protein interactions and summarize previous experiments and data surrounding the particular interactions of interest [2].

The string interaction network of COL3A1 and COL1A1
Conclusion
COL1A1a in zebrafish is the most similar homolog to COL3A1 in humans. The interaction network shows many interactions with integrins, which are proteins that help to regulate cell signaling, proliferation, and adhesion [2]. They are seen in many different tissue types in the human body, including blood vessels. Collagen has the ability to bind to integrins and influence a variety of cell signaling cascades. For example, cardiac pathologies such as hypertrophy have been seen due to dysregulation of ERK signaling downstream of integrin 1 beta 1 and collagen interactions.
